I am not a professional model. I am a performer who hasn’t always felt comfortable in front of a camera. Prior to working with Lars, I had a limited experience with photo shoots and had worked exclusively with photographers specializing in belly dance photography.
I didn’t know what I would get with Lars, but his affable personality quickly put me at ease. I soon realized that, despite the fact he hadn’t worked with other belly dancers, he quickly grasped the dynamics the dance has to offer a photographer. That isn’t an easy feat, as what looks good in motion doesn’t always translate to still photography. Also, because of his wide range of experience, I wasn’t just getting the standard shots every belly dancer has, I got photos about who I am, personally, as a dancer.
I’ve had the pleasure with working with Lars three times now. Each shoot has brought me amazing images and has also involved both of us trying something new. He learns from each shoot and we both benefit from that knowledge. I know he’s thinking, prior to a shoot day with me, of what works, what new things to try, and what prior experiments to build on. It’s amazing. I recommend shooting early, and often, with Lars.

I was very excited to take my hoops and costumes to spend a few hours in a studio with Lars. After seeing the magic he had created with other models and performers I knew that his shots would be spectacular. The photo shoot was a fun filled and relaxing adventure for me. I got to dance around the studio to music and play with my hula hoops while Lars cheerfully encouraged my movements and suggested interesting and powerful poses.
The results were far beyond my expectations. Lars captured the light, love and playfulness of my life. The photos from the shoot are creative, professional, powerful and eye catching. I am truly grateful for the entire experience. Thank you Lars!

Yesterday was my first time to ever participate in a real photoshoot, but Lars and his colleagues made the experience so much fun that I forgot that I was even just a little nerve-wracked at the start!
I was told exactly what to do and what looks he was going for in the photos, and if I still didn’t get something he didn’t hesitate to help me fix it or provide a personal demonstration. Not only that, but even when I was late and had gotten lost on the way to the studio, Lars came out personally to find me and guide me there! In the rain!

Time ran so fast ! As Lars’s other works shows, he is full of inspiration and is very easy to work with. (also, very charming!)
He had a clear vision of what he wanted to do and instructed me beforehand - by knowing the photographer’s goal, it was easy to imagine my movements and poses. And ... he let me do what I wanted !!! :o)
I couldn’t stop laughing from the moment I entered the studio till I left – I quite miss that environment. It was my first time being painted everywhere (including my head) or being tickled during the makeup (with brushes), but it was also my first time hearing a photographer asking, "Will you come here and move around WITHOUT opening your eyes?"... It was so funny!!
Shooting with Lars gave me not only a memorable experience but also a chance to meet with the other wonderful people. I strongly hope to work with him again !

The photo shoot experience with Lars was very thrilling and fun! :)
I found that Lars was excellent in problem solving. During the shoot, he played with lights, shadows, props, fabrics, camera angles & height, etc to find their full potentials.
The atmosphere during the shooting was filled with much laughter, which freed me from unwanted tension. I was strip naked during the shoot, but his open-mindedness strap off my self-consciousness, too. As a result, the photos turned out to be such stunning ones!!

I was first drawn to Lars’ work when I checked out his Flickr site and thought that he’s made his subjects look absolutely gorgeous.
There’s not many people I would agree to being covered from head to toe in black paint for, but Lars made I loved that he was proposing something out of the ordinary, that creative willingness to experiment and not play it safe really appealed to me. The shoot was unbelievable - the images he created are unlike anything I’ve ever seen, and unlike any photoshoot or set I’ve ever worked on.
His easy-going attitude combined with his unfaltering artist’s sense of direction meant that the whole experience was a start-to-finish brilliant experience. It’s not often that you get this (seriously!) rarest of combination’s: an acute artistic sensibility coupled with a really lovely guy that you can instantly relate to and have a laugh with. I can’t recommend Lars highly enough and would love to work with him again in the future.

It’s amazing how a photographer can create such a comfortable and fun atmosphere from the first shoot!
I enjoyed working with Lars, he was very professional abut the whole thing - first he discussed my ideas of the shoot, gave me more interesting choices (but with the same theme), worked it out with the make up artist and so in the end we put together a beautiful shoot and I was more than 100% satisfied!

In my experience of shoots, Lars is easily one of my most favorite photographers to work with. Planning, prep, the shoot and the end results all went efficiently and professionally. When one thinks of photography, the idea of marvelous pictures, kaleidoscopic images that stands out from the other pictures. But sometimes it is not the picture that tells the story but it is the person who has the eye and evolves the raw image to tell the story from the pictures.

He had shot amazing poses and made both people and landscapes more beautiful and serene than I could even imagine. I said to my husband: "God, I would love to have my pictures taken by someone like him". When I read at a later point that Lars was also shooting non professional models I was first in line to take him up on the offer.
A few weeks later I went to his studio in Harajuku, quite uneasy and nervous I might add, to have a photo shoot. Lars was great advising me before that (on what kind of clothes to take with me) and during (on how to pose and stand).
He made me feel at ease and explained a few poses, he had made sure that there was a make-artist present so I wouldn’t have to worry about that and he let me be until I was so relaxed that I started to have real fun in front of the camera. In the end it was a fantastic day with some great photo’s to boost!
